A large packaging operation was experiencing damage to the bottom of cartons on their case packing lines. The damage occurred as the cartons transferred from one conveyor to another conveyor which was moving at a 10 percent slower speed. Productivity was also impacted since the first two rollers of the slower conveyors needed to be replaced every year due to excessive wear.

A major food processing OEM needed a cost-effective indexing clutch solution for use on a new cookie filling machine. The indexing clutch is mounted on the conveyor head shaft and translates the reciprocating motion from the crank mechanism into incremental motion in one direction, advancing the conveyor a uniform distance with each drive stroke and then overrunning in the opposite direction on the return stroke.

A New England manufacturer of commercial skeet shooting equipment required an overrunning clutch solution for their line of clay pigeon throwing machines. The clutch is used as a backstop to prevent oscillation of the throwing arm after each stroke. Stieber CSK backstopping clutches were selected over a competitor’s clutch due to their reliability in this high-cycle application.
